Chinese Educators Are Learning from Boston Renaisance
A group of 40 Chinese Principals and teachers took part in a learning tour of schools in Boston this September. Arranged by the Excelorators educational tour company, the group visited Boston Renaissance to see what they could learn from our teaching and educational model, especially our whole child approach integrating the arts and language instruction into the curriculum for all scholars.
The group was welcomed by the school’s Director of Visual & Performing Arts, Ms. Evelyn Lee, as well as music teacher Dr. Dennis Slaughter and Chinese Teacher Yingling Hsu. After a brief tour of the school the group broke into smaller groups which went and sat in on various classes including Chinese, Art, Music and more. After enjoying a catered luncheon the Chinese educators and Boston Renaissance staff spoke in an open forum about the differences in teaching styles between the two countries, what impressed them most about what they saw and what they learned and hoped to integrate into their own schools on their return to China.
